BOOK REVIEW: Karl's Year in Chastity...

Unlike some people, for example my beloved Mistress R, reading to me is not a compulsion. I basically read while I eat and before I go to sleep (if Mistress isn't in bed with me). So it impresses me yet again that another of Stanley Jeffries' books has had me flicking my Nexus on to read a page or two during a slow period at work. I don't know what it is about this guy's writing, but it's incredibly readable. Not only that but I'd have to say that I enjoyed it even more than the book I reviewed a few weeks back (The Chastity Game) which I believe Stanley claimed to be his best work!
Karl's Year in Chastity centres largely around three characters, Karl (obviously), his ex-wife Freya and of course the jewel in the crown, the beautiful Asha. I like how Stanley creates characters from different backgrounds, in this case Asha has Indian heritage while Karl and Freya are Danish. It adds a subtle exotic flavour without being over the top. It also means that Karl and Freya can converse in Danish without Asha being able to understand them of course.
I don't really want to say too much about the plot, because half the fun is finding out where the story goes. There's plenty of twists but the story is presented in a traditional linear format which makes it very easy to follow, especially if you read it piecemeal. It's never really occurred to me before but books which jump around the timeline are probably fine if you read them in great chunks, but for people like me, I much prefer the linear format.
One of my usual (but few) negative comments about Stanley's work is the lack of actual sex scenes in the book, there's usually plenty of friction and build up, but little in the way of action (so to speak). Well that's one thing I can't level at this book as it is brimming with 'action', and Stanley does a very good job of instigating action especially considering his lead man's cock is pretty much locked up for the duration.
There's plenty of electro play, whipping and lesbian sex though (hopefully that's not too big a spoiler) and Stanley keeps the book on the right side of nasty (unlike some of his books), here everything is above board and with emphasis on the consensual nature of all concerned.
If you haven't read any of Stanley's books I would definitely recommend starting with this one.

You can buy Karl's Year in Chastity from AMAZON.COM, AMAZON.UK, PINK FLAMINGO

BOOK REVIEW: The Chastity Game by Stanley Jeffries...

Following my recent interview with Stanley for this blog, Pink Flamingo kindly sent me review copies of the two books I haven't yet read of Stanley's, this one and 'Karl's Year in Chastity'. I believe 'The Chastity Game' is Stanley's first book (though that could be wrong) but it's quite evident that his style was very much fully formed from the start. Like his other books this one occasionally teeters on the brink of 'nastiness', although in this case it's more of a one-off headfuck than anything. Stanley seems able to trick you into suspending your logical thoughts as you get sucked into the story, so that when a helpless Gemma thinks she is about to brutally tortured, you kind of buy it...well I did anyway.
At the heart of the story is a three way relationship, Greg and Gemma are deeply in love but Gemma is more interested in sex with women than men. She likes having sex with Greg because she likes making him happy, but she gets off on having sex with women. Enter Tori, an older woman with an interesting past, who starts out straight but eventually succumbs to Gemma's charms. But Tori also rather fancies Greg which leads to a complicated relationship in which Greg submits to both women in one way or another. Tori is shocked that Gemma keeps Greg under lock and key, but she soon finds her own ways to torment him, including a game of blindfolded chess where every lost piece results in a punishing shock to his balls.
On top of all this there are also further complications in the forms of Zoe and Angela, a reformed Goth and a wealthy rich-bitch. Zoe allows herself to be dominated by Angela for money, which repulses Gemma, especially when she falls into a trap laid by the devious and quick witted Angela, to which Zoe is a willing accomplice.
As ever Stanley's books are immensely readable, his relentless detail eventually winning you over into suspending disbelief where some authors might fare less well. But as I have said before, and Stanley knows my views on this, the first third of the book is rather light on sex. It's a good story, a very enjoyable read, but no one is going to be masturbating until well into this book. But then it's always a challenge to write a story about chastity and get a lot of sex into it.

You can buy Stanley's books from Amazon UK, Amazon.US and Pink Flamingo. Sadly The Chastity Game is only available as an e-book, not a proper book.

BOOK REVIEW: Journey into Chastity trilogy...

So I finally finished all three books in the Journey Into Chastity trilogy and on the whole I was very impressed. The third book contains a very unpleasant scene (to my thinking) which I could have done without, but leaving that aside all three of the books were superbly written, with a rare quality of writing for this genre.
Since I wrote about his book, Stanley has contacted me and I am now the proud owner of a proper paperback copy of the trilogy, which I will definitely read again in the future and also another book written under a different name which is actually a Male Dom / Fem Sub novel. Needless to say I will be posting about that in the future, in the meantime you can view Stanley's Pink Flamingo web page HERE

BOOK REVIEW: Journey Into Chastity (by Stanley Jeffries)...

Click the cover to view this book on Amazon.co.uk

Straight off the bat, I have to say that this is one of the best Femdom novels I have read so far. Yes, as always there is the occasional pinch of salt required... and as ever the chastity device element is typically unbelievable. But Stanley does try to minimise these issues, and truth be told the book, while at times a bit OTT, is very engaging and very readable.
The main character (John) finds himself in a relationship with a girl way out of his league (Laura) and as their relationship becomes long distance he discovers that she has found herself a lesbian lover (Christina) who introduces her to BDSM. Rather than lose Laura altogether John agrees to be first her, and then their slave. Add in a few additional characters who help propel the story along and you a very good read indeed.
I have to say the book is exceptionally well written, and the interaction between the characters really brings the book to life. There's more than a few twists along the way, but nothing that makes you throw the book down in disbelief. The scene with the 'grunge' is pretty grim though, personally I could have done without that.
There are three books in the series, this is the first and I am just about to start reading the second. Hopefully the high standard of writing will continue throughout. Highly recommended.

BOOK REVIEW: Nothing Ventured: A Twisted Tale of High Tech and High Heels by Salome Verdad...

I'm really not sure how to review this one, it's a bit strange... to say the least. When I first started reading it I found it quite enjoyable, funny even in places... the problem is how can I explain my problem with the book without discussing the ending? Well, I'll try...
I did enjoy the first 3/4 of the book, but I never once found it arousing, which would seem like a failing in a book of this nature. And yet, I wanted to finish the book and I didn't find it a chore at all. I could pick holes in it, the chastity belt that is just snapped on out of the blue, the drug laced shoes (er, yeah...) and so on, but it was 'entertaining'.
My problem started when it suddenly turned unexpectedly violent, which totally threw me. Indeed the first mention of a woman being 'punched hard in the side of the head by a dyke with a gloved fist' kind of made me think it was a misunderstanding on my part or possibly a badly phrased line.
It wasn't and from there on it got more and more violent.
Which I have to say, really ruined my enjoyment of the book. I just don't get why it took that direction at all. After all the trouble Salome went to to furnish me with a Kindle copy of the book I kind of feel a little bad that my review isn't a little more positive, and indeed up until the last quarter of the book I was all ready to give it a thumbs up, albeit with the caveat that it never once gave me the slightest glimmer of wood. I see there is a four star review on Amazon though so maybe it's just me?

You can purchase 'Nothing Ventured' by visiting Amazon.co.uk (here) or Amazon.com (here).

If you don't ask you don't get...

So today I received an email from a writer who I've reviewed on this blog before, and since I enjoyed his first two books (though I'm not doing quite so well with the third) and because he asked very nicely I am reposting this guest post he sent me. This might be a good time to mention something which I've been meaning to say for a little while. I'm quite happy for people to email me about reviewing books on my site, but I will not read PDFs. A proper book is preferred and will definitely get you a review, maybe a Kindle file would be okay, but PDFs are a nightmare to read.

A while back, Tanya Simmonds contacted me about reviewing her book, which regrettably I haven't done, partly because I tried reading it on a Nexus and the PDF file was a pain in the backside. However, what I read was well written if not quite to my taste. May I suggest that you visit Tanya's site and make up your own minds.

And now to Alex Jordaine's guest post...

THE ‘MISTRESS’ SERIES OF EROTIC FICTION

Where powerful women control the pleasure

Alex Jordaine is the UK’s leading Femdom author and his work has also been widely published in the USA. In this article Alex talks about his acclaimed ‘Mistress’ series of paperback books and the latest addition to the series, ‘Surrender to the Mistress’.

‘Surrender to the Mistress’ is the latest in my ‘Mistress’ Femdom series of paperbacks. In these books strong women are firmly in charge and men are there to serve and obey them. All the ‘Mistress’ books have been published as e-books as well as paperbacks. My stories have also been included in various collections of BDSM, gay, lesbian, and general themed erotica.
‘Surrender to the Mistress’ is the fifth title in the ‘Mistress’ series. The books all have distinctive electric blue covers, each depicting a beautiful dominatrix. The other books in the series are ‘Mistress of Torment’, ‘Naked for the Mistress’, ‘Mistress Extreme’, and ‘Mistress Divine’. They are all full length novels, with the exception of ‘Surrender to The Mistress’, which is a collection of four novellas. All the stories in the ‘Mistress’ series are ‘one-offs’, so they can be read in any order. The sixth in the series, ‘Mistress Severity’ comes out in paperback in October2013 and is currently available as an e-book. The seventh in the series, ‘Bound by the Mistress’ comes out next year. Both of these are full-length novels.
I’m delighted that the ‘Mistress’ Femdom series has proved to be so popular and that it’s making new fans all the time. (‘I couldn’t put the book down… it blew my mind…I got mega-horny every time I read a bit more…I didn’t want the book to end’ raved one enthusiast recently when reviewing ‘Mistress Divine’.) They seem to love reading the books as much as I love writing them.
I thoroughly enjoy turning the usual stereotypes on their head, as well as exploring the psychology of submission, the joys and perils of the BDSM lifestyle, and the redemptive power of love. This last is worth mentioning because, for books so full of graphic discipline, bondage and domination, they are essentially love stories.
So, if you’re looking for well-written and arousing Femdom erotic fiction, why not give ‘Surrender to the Mistress’ a try. It would make a perfect introduction to the rest of the ‘Mistress’ series.

EXCERPT FROM ‘SURRENDER TO THE MISTRESS’

She stepped in really close to Peter in his chained bondage, that startling Amazonian woman, shifting her weight from one foot to the other. She stood over him, her fat naked breasts swaying, their giant nipples as hard as rocks. Peter looked up at her and said nervously, ‘May I ask you one thing?’ He didn’t know it but there was wonder in his eyes at the very sight of her. He couldn’t help it any more than he could help his now rigidly erect cock.
‘It depends what it is you want to ask,’ she said warily, her full lips pursed.
‘What is your name?’ Peter said.
The woman smiled indulgently at the innocuous question he had asked and pushed a strand of his hair back that had fallen down onto his brow. ‘My name is Serena,’ she said. She let her fingers trail down Peter’s cheek before drawing them away abruptly. ‘But that is enough talk. Julie, you know what to do.’
Julie immediately went to the metal briefcase on the floor, knelt down and unhinged its clasps and lifted its lid. She took out a black dildo with a rubber bag of the same colour attached to the end. Hanging from the bag by a short tube was a rubber bulb. Julie closed the metal briefcase, got up from her knees and handed the item she had removed from the briefcase to Serena.
‘Open your mouth wide, Peter,’ Serena ordered. As he obeyed, she took the dildo and placed the rubber bag between his lips. Using the rubber bulb, she began to pump air into the bag until it filled his mouth completely, the rubber dildo at right-angles from his face.
Peter could not disguise his growing excitement. His thick hard cock was now throbbing constantly and jutting up from his body like a flesh coloured version of the black dildo sticking straight up from his face.
Facing in the direction of Peter’s giant pulsing erection, Serena climbed up onto her haunches above him and straddled his face. She took the dildo in her hand and placed it at the opening of her sex. Slowly she lowered herself down on it, her pussy tight but very wet. Soon Peter’s face was shiny with her juice as she ground her hips down, sinking herself onto the dildo. Serena let out a moan of pleasure as, with the fingers of her right hand, she searched out and pressed down on her clitoris. She moaned again as she jammed her fingers down once more and started to grind them hard against her clit.
Serena’s body rocked with pleasure as she played with her clitoris while pushing her big fleshy thighs into Peter’s face, making the dildo sink deeper into her sex. She pressed down so hard that Peter could barely see, could hardly breathe. Then she started to move herself up and down on the dildo, the sound noisily liquid. She rode his face like this, soon drenching it with her copious pussy juice.
‘Give him a blow job,’ Serena then ordered Julie, while continuing to ride the dildo jutting from Peter’s face. Julie immediately moved to the end of the leather-covered table and climbed lithely onto it on her knees, kneeling between Peter’s shackled legs. She put her arms either side of his waist and bent further forward, fastening her lips tight to the hot flesh of his cock, which was now glittering with precome wetness. Julie began sucking Peter’s shaft and he could feel it pulse and throb excitingly inside her mouth. She sucked him slow and deep at first, and then picked up momentum until her lips were moving faster and faster over the length of his shaft.
In this, it appeared to Peter that Julie was taking her lead from Serena who was now shoving herself up and down on the dildo jutting from his mouth with ever increasing force, her strong thighs quivering. She began to moan and gasp and rock back and forth on his face. Her pussy contracted tightly around the large dildo and she groaned deeply as her orgasm washed through her in mighty waves.
She didn’t stop shoving her sex down against Peter’s gagged mouth though, his face now soaked even more with her juices. At the same time, Julie sucked ever more violently at his cock, sucked until he felt sharp tremors that ripped straight through him like a tsunami, bringing him to a mighty orgasm. He climaxed hard, his semen spraying warm and creamy into her mouth, filling it. Julie swallowed it all down greedily, his cock still pulsing in her throat.
Julie withdrew her mouth slowly from Peter’s erection when it at last began to wilt, and she knelt up. She looked questioningly at Serena who looked back at her and smiled a lascivious smile. ‘Get the handcuffs and leg irons again,’ she ordered, still moving herself up and down on the dildo. ‘Also, open the briefcase once more and get out the ball gag, enema bag, lubricant, and strap-on dildo. I haven’t finished with Peter today, no way am I done with him yet.’
Those words landed on Peter like a boulder. In their essence they were entirely unequivocal. It was obvious what was going to happen to him, couldn’t be more obvious. It was perfectly clear that he would soon be losing his virginity, so to speak, that Serena would be popping his cherry. And there wasn’t a thing he could do to prevent it, not a damned thing.
His reaction to this knowledge, however, took him completely by surprise. Peter didn’t feel horror or disgust or dismay. Instead he felt resignation and excitement, both at the same time. Shameful as it was, he not only accepted what was going to happen to him, he found he welcomed it, was excited by the prospect of it – extremely excited.

Sauteed swan washed down with liquid gold...

Someone emailed me and asked me if I had read Sarah Jameson's free chastity story yesterday and if so what did I think of it?
Well, the truth is I did download it when it was free and I also downloaded a Kindle Reader app thingy so I could read it. The thing is, as soon as I opened the file I was put off by the Russian names and the whole 'billionaire' thing, so I only read the first two pages. With that in mind it would be a bit unfair to praise or criticise.
I guess Sarah is hoping some of the 50 Shades magic might rub off on her latest venture, and so I guess in that light you might agree that pitching the story in the realms of the fantastically wealthy is a good move. To me it's just a big turn off, reminds me of all those Black Lace books where everyone lives on a personal island, eating sauteed swan and drinking liquid gold. I know a lot of people want escapism and from a writers point of view it's an easy way to explain why no one needs to worry about going to work or any of those other mundane day to day things... but I just find it a little, um.... lame.
That said the people who have read it seem to like it, so maybe I should try again. Anyone else read it?

This really is rather amusing...

I found this on Amazon.co.uk, it made me laugh quite a bit...

Oh My, I mean really, Oh my, oh my, oh my......No readers, I have not just been whipped (pardon the pun) into a bosom heaving wreck by the size of my partner's "impressive length". I have in fact, just dragged myself through to the final page of this ludicrous nonsense and found myself almost speechless. Almost...

The main character, Christian Grey, is quite obviously deranged. This does not however, deter Ana, who for some inexplicable reason, has spent so long with her head in a book that she has never looked in a mirror and noticed that she is a "total babe". A "total babe" who also happens to be a 21 year old virgin. No, Ana, in the space of 3 weeks, falls so crazily in love with "Mr Grey" that she manages to bypass the whole deranged thing and instead concentrates all her efforts on a) going from virgin to porn star faster than Hussain Bolt off the blocks and b) deciding whether to let him hit her with stuff. As you do.

As for Mr Grey, obviously, readers can't be allowed to see him as simply a deranged, manipulative psycho so let's give him smouldering good looks, a few zillion quid to throw around and hey, and this is the clincher, the ability to love art and music (y'know, like Nazi's do in the war films). (Note - the bit where he plays the "haunting" piano piece, semi naked, with his eyes closed actually made me laugh so much that I almost wet myself - in a non-orgasmic way. Check it out....enjoy! ). As if that wasn't enough he also has a personal and financial interest in saving the world from famine. Just that old world peace and cancer to sort out and then hey, job's a good `un. I mean really, how did the world ever shamble along without him? So what made this beautiful, charismatic and talented man so brutal? Could it be a traumatic childhood perhaps? Why, yes I think it could...yaaaaawn....

So, the 2 beautiful people come together (Oh my, another pun) and the rest of the book is basically about Ana wondering if she should let him hit her with stuff and then letting him hit her with stuff and Mr Grey wondering if he should stop hitting her with stuff but still hitting her with stuff while she whines on about wanting "more" love and less of the hitting stuff and he whines on about how he doesn't know how to give "more" cos he has only ever hit people with stuff.

In between these nonsensical blatherings they have lots of sex, which, like piano playing, speaking foreign languages and making zillions of quid, he possesses boundless expertise. Obviously. Luckily, virginal Ana also has her "inner Goddess" to guide her on the art of sex play and soon becomes an orgasm machine, chucking them out all over the place in a rampant, fevered haze of lust. So much so that she overlooks Mr Grey's general bastardry and bends over nicely for a few beatings. She is also too enraptured to take much notice his incessant stalking, which would have got lesser men arrested. Oh, and his `feeder' tendencies that, if successful, would have surely added a good 10 stone onto Ana's lovely buttocks which in turn would have incurred the cost of a refurb' to the `red room of pain' when his ceiling shackles needed reinforcing. Luckily he can afford it.

As many other readers have noted, the writing is appallingly poor and, if you removed the sex bits, would resemble a love struck teenager's diary. It's all been said before so I won't dwell on it. I will just say, if you are looking for erotic fiction, look elsewhere, if you are looking for an unintentionally laugh out loud bit of fluff and nonsense then crack open a bottle, put your feet up and prepare to be amused. Personally I would just say that there goes a day of my life that I will never get back. Oh my!

The fiction of Arthur Mitchell...

A while ago I received an email from a guy called Arthur Mitchell asking if I would be interested in reading one of the stories he had written and was selling on Amazon. Now I don't have a Kindle, or any kind of electronic reader come to that, but Arthur was kind enough to send me a PDF file containing the story 'Breeding Lisa with Big Black Cock'. Now I'm sure you can pretty much draw your own conclusions from that title, and indeed, mixed race cuckolding is what it's all about. It's very well written (I wasn't aware but Arthur tells me that Amazon is flooded with very shoddy porn-writers) albeit rather short, it's more of a short story than a book in it's own right... which to me makes it a little expensive, but I can understand why Arthur priced it as he did since as he said, if you charge 99p people will automatically assume it's garbage.
Anyway, if you would like to read one of Arthur's stories, you can find them on Amazon.com and if you click the link (here) then it will take you straight to the page you need.

BOOK REVIEW: Best Bondage Erotica 2012...

I am not familiar with this series of books, but I do own a couple of books edited by Rachel Kramer Bussel and they aree both pretty good, so I approached this with some optimism. It certainly starts out well with a very hot story written by Shoshanna Evers about a woman dabbling in some self-bondage with a twist, that being that she has frozen the keys to her handcuffs in a block of ice and in the process left herself unable to remove the vibrator that is secured inside her. 34 minutes of enforced orgasms later she finally manages to get free, only to chastise herself for 'cheating' and plotting ways to make her predicament more difficult the next time.
Former 'Forum Magazine' editor Elizabeth Coldwell's 'A Night at the Opera' on the other hand, is disappointing. The overly pretentious background to the story is distracting and the ending is a little cheesy, which is a shame really because I have read her work before and been impressed.
No such trouble for  Lucy Felthouse, who's 'Trophy Boyfriend' entertains well, or Salome Wild, who's 'The Spider and the Fly' overcomes it's slightly far-fetched storyline by virtue of being well written and by giving the characters some depth before the action even starts, something which is often overlooked in a short story.
Andrea Dale's 'Darlene's Dilemma' puts me off right from the start by featuring an ageing 'rockstar' character. I know I may be in the minority, but to me, fiction should first and foremost be believable. If I can't get behind it, if I can't believe in it, then I really find it hard to care. Of course in fiction the writers tend to give their characters flawless bodies, huge cocks, etc etc and while these can grate at times they are relatively easy to overlook, but any story which features the 'rockstar' or similar, the playboy with his own private island or anything so completely alien that I find it hard to relate or care is off to a bad start, and so it is with 'Darlene's Dilemma'.
Much better is A.R. Shannon's 'Snow White', a nice spanking story which could actually have done with a few more pages to really make the most of itself.
Elise Hepner's contribution doesn't really press any of my buttons and loses points for it's cliched references to Manalos and Jimmy Choos, I mean really when one woman is dominating another and making her worship her heels, who cares what make they are really? I know that might sound petty, but it's a bit like the 'ageing rockstar' thing, it just hampers the story unnecessarily in my eyes.
Thankfully Kay Jaybee comes to the rescue with the excellent 'The Cupboard Under the Stairs', which is one of the few stories in this book that got my full attention.
Overall this is a pretty good compilation of stories, and with any book of this type there's always going to be some better than others, or perhaps one's which appeal to you more than others. It's a good way to find new authors who you can follow as they (hopefully) progress to writing longer stories and novels.

This book is available to buy from Eden Fantasys who can of course also provide you with a wide range of adult toys, lingerie and other goodies, and if you click the book cover at the top of the page it will take you directly to the page where you can purchase it.

REVIEW: She's on Top (by Rachel Kramer Bussel)

Supplied for review by EDEN FANTASYS

After the slight debacle of the 'Anal Invader', when Eden Fantasys contacted me this time I decided to play safe and go with a book instead of one of their wide range of sex toys (well, it makes sense seeing as I don't need permission to read it). Eden Fantasys have a pretty good selection of erotic books and this one certainly seemed to fit the bill, indeed I already have another of Rachel Kramer Bussel's Femdom collections ('Yes Ma'am', although I haven't actually read it yet).
This is quite a good book because it does think outside the box a little bit, I must admit I was a little bit disappointed in the first story (Suit and Tie), partly I think because it's more about a fetish for suits than about Femdom, and I found the ending rather twee. But things improve from there and Krisitina Wright's 'The Mistress Meets Her Match' in particular certainly had my cock hardening as I read it.
Debra Hyde's story 'By a Firm Hand' brought our good friends Q and 'k' to mind, with it's tale of domestic discipline and I could well picture 'k' in the part of 'Robert', with Q assuming the role of his wife 'Judith',  spanking his backside with a wooden spoon before having him go down on her on their balcony...
'The Inner Vixen' by Saskia Walker is the sort of thing that would get published in Forum (if it still existed), but it leaves me a little cold, that said it's at least an interesting take on the 'Femdom' theme even if it is a little too theatrical for my taste and fails to rouse my most easily aroused parts.
Fortunately Mina Rose's 'Waiting for Me' is a bit more like it, and when I read it I distinctly remember some major engorgement taking place.
As ever books like these will be up and down, but then different stories will appeal to different people. This one seems to have a pretty good hit rate with me, and I would certainly be interested to see what else Kristina Wright and Mina Rose (among others) have written.
If you fancy checking this book out for yourself, Eden Fantasys can supply you a copy (click here) where you can also find a veritable smorgasbord of erotic fiction and sex toys of all shapes, colours and sizes.

REVIEW: Mistress Extreme by Alex Jordaine...

So this is the new book by Alex Jordaine, which follows the very enjoyable 'Naked for the Mistress', 'Mistress of Torment' and (the one I haven't read) 'Mistress Divine'. In it, the 'hero' David falls under the spell of Mistress Isabella, who abuses him as she sees fit, when she sees fit, and inbetween times he is not even allowed to try to contact her, at least to begin with...
I must admit, after the first two books I was expecting a lot from this and the truth is that it was a little disappointing. The first few chapters are a little tedious, with the endless waiting for her to contact him. I know the idea is to set the scene and all that, but I just thought it didn't really flow that well.
Later things improve but then I found it a little over the top, if I'm honest. There were brutal beatings in the other book but this one starts at such a high pitch and leaves itself no room for upping the tempo that by the end it's more like torture porn than BDSM, or maybe that's just my fairly vanilla view of it? I'm not into pain myself, but I think even GoodHubby would find this a little harsh. Personally it doesn't turn me on to read about people being beaten or caned until the are 'lacerated'. But I digress...
What I do applaud Alex for is his willingness to explore themes which most other authors will shy away from, you may remember my recent review of another book where all the women where brought into a circle of men and ordered to pleasure each other for 'educational purposes', but yet when it came to the men this was dismissed with a throwaway line that the women where shown 'videos' to educate them... talk about a massive fucking cop-out.
Okay I know that most of these books are probably read by men and bi/homosexual sex isn't going to be everyone's cup of tea, but when it comes to Femdom I'm sure it's a pretty common fantasy for the guy to be 'forced' to prove his devotion to his Mistress by doing something that he would find difficult /  unpleasant / possibly even abhorrent... and so it is with this book with David being forced to suck Isabella's dominant  husband's cock and later forced into many sexual situations with his own friend (and fellow submissive).
There's also a pretty heavy gay scene (which I didn't particularly like myself, partly because gay sex without the Femdom element doesn't appeal to me, partly because some of it was quite brutal and partly because it was written in a thoroughly shit style, frankly...).
Ah yes, and we're back to my main beef with this book, everyone is stunningly good looking, with piercing eyes, and blah blah blah blah blah blah... no literally everyone. I know it's a fantasy, but, it doesn't help to suspend belief (at least for me) when everyone is so fucking gorgeous all the time. I would much prefer a little realism, sure Isabella needs to be something above the ordinary for David to fall so hard for her, but the fact that everybody else is so fabulous, just makes it harder for her to stand out, surely?
Anyway, that rather common failing aside, this is not a bad book, maybe a three out of five, but I would say the other two were four out of fives. However if you like your novels a bit fantastical and you appreciate brutal whippings, needle play and all that heavy stuff, then this might float your boat more than it does mine. Personally, I prefer a Mistress who dominates in a more cerebral manner, rather than simply battering the shit out of someone with a flogger...

REVIEW: The Vanilla Dominatrix by Giles English...

Firstly I must apologise to Giles for the delay in writing this review, I received this several weeks ago and promptly forgot all about it, so my sincere apologies for that lapse Giles. Well of course now that I have read the book, I am in a position to give you some feedback.
It's actually quite hard for me to relate to this book in my position, in fact I would very much like Giles to write a follow up book about how someone who is in my position can move things further forward without risking ruining what he has already got. Now that would be a book I would want to read. I would love for Mistress R to be more demanding and to let her 'cruel' side out, but I really don't know how to achieve this and am fearful of losing the wonderful life I have got for myself trying, so Giles, there's a project for you.
But let's get back to Giles' current project for now...
This book is written from an almost academic standpoint, with references to ancient Greece in the early parts of the book and a scientific approach to the task at hand. Rest assured this book has a purpose and anyone purchasing in the hope of being titillated will be disappointed. This is written like a text book, which does make it a little dry for the casual reader, but if you are considering purchasing this book then you are probably not a casual reader.
Giles gets you to analyse your own circumstances and uses examples to show how you can 'manipulate' situations to get the things you want without crossing your wife/lover's boundaries. The word manipulate always carries negative connotations, but in this instance I don't see that it should. Manipulation is exactly what is being suggested, but if that has the positive outcome that is the aim of the book, and everyone is happy in the end, then I don't see the harm.
The truth is most women would probably baulk at the idea of male submission and chastity, until they try it, but how do you convince them if they flatly refuse to try it? What this book sets out to do is to suggest ways you can steer your relationship gradually the way you would like it to go. I still think there are a few jumps in assumption here and there, and the fact is all you can do is try and show your wife/lover the benefits to her of accepting your proposal, and seeing how it goes.
If she likes the way it goes then all well and good, and if not then you haven't really lost anything, you just know where you stand and based on that you have to make a decision on whether the relationship still works for you or not.
Personally I still prefer the direct approach, but then I would because it worked pretty well for me, and that approach is more suited to a relationship like mine and Mistress R's. However I can see that if you are in a relationship where your wife/lover is staunchly vanilla then this book could offer some pointers on how to go about bringing change through a slightly less orthodox approach. If nothing else I can see that perhaps it might make you think more about the relationship as it stands and how you might bring about the changes you want.
I'm still not sure that you're ever going to convince a truly vanilla partner that handcuffing you to a radiator overnight is 'normal', but then that doesn't really appeal to me anyway.
Actually my favourite parts of the book were the historical background pieces at the beginning. It was very interesting to read about the 'real' slaves in ancient Greece being used for their female owners sexual kicks, although the part about methods of sterilising slaves brought tears to my eyes (ouch!).

Disappointment...

I've had the new Alex Jordaine book on order from Amazon for months and it came the other week and I've finally got around to starting to read it. I'm not gonna review it properly yet because I'm still only on page 42, but it is such a disappointment so far, and that's a real shame because the last two books were great. You may remember the other day I had a little rant about how novelists fall into this trap of making everyone in their books stunning, gorgeous, bronzed and toned, with simmering/piercing/delete as applicable eyes, etc etc...
Well, in this book Alex has fallen into the same trap, describing everyone at a dinner party as staggeringly good looking... sigh. Wouldn't it be more interesting if the hero was actually not at all good looking, but was rather possessed of a raw sexuality?
It's long been a belief of mine that merely being good looking does not make you 'sexy' and people who aren't especially good looking can still be devastatingly sexy. In fact, some women who are considered 'stunning', like, lets pick an example at random 'Elle McPherson'... I can't ever imagine her fucking or sucking cock or doing anything mildly 'deviant' and as such she has zero sex appeal to me.
That's probably why people rave about (for example) TV cook Nigella Lawson, she's not classically beautiful and she's no waif, but she looks like she knows how to have a good time, and she'd just as likely suck you off as bake you a cake. Maybe she'd even suck you off while baking you a cake and that sounds like a win/win situation to me.
Similarly the plain-jane type of girl, who may not make an impression in a room full of overly made-up, heel-tottering, fake-nailed, hair-extensioned, tango-faced gold-diggas, but who may just be the sexiest and most broad-minded women there...
Anyway, back to the book, I'm sticking with it, and I'm hoping it gets better, because frankly at the moment it's a bit of a disappointment.

BOOK REVIEW: Haven of Obedience by Marina Anderson...

Despite this book focussing on Female submission, rather than Male submission I decided to give it a go anyway, and I'm glad I did. Marina Anderson's writing style is very readable and I really raced through this book. Sure it has no real depth, but it's a sex novel at the end of the day and there's plenty of that. Despite my own thoughts on the matter I'm not entirely sure that people who read books like this want an enormous amount of plot and character development, which makes me a little concerned about the ultimate fate of my own book (which is still firmly on the back-burner), since I think it has an inordinate amount of plot respective to the amount of actual 'action'. But I digress...
Don't get me wrong, Marina does imbue the characters with adequate texture and she does a fair job of keeping the uneasy relationship between the two main characters on the boil. But I do have one or two niggles...
'The Haven' of the title is a 'secret club' where people are invited to go to learn to be submissive. This includes men and women who are too aggressive in bed, like the heroine 'Natalie'. Of course she's somewhat reluctant to go, reluctant to learn and of course is ultimately broken by the hero 'Simon'...
There are a couple of scenes where guys are taught to endure denial and teasing, and I applaud the author for including those, but my one big beef is with the cop out that she uses when distinguishing between male and female learning techniques.
About half way through the book all the women at 'The Haven' are marched into a room and into a circle of chairs occupied by the male residents and 'forced' to engage in lesbian sex (which they are reluctant to do) under the pretence of educating the watching men about how to 'pleasure' a woman. All well and good I suppose, and I'm sure none of us chaps would be complaining about that.
So how do we think the women might learn about 'pleasuring' men? Might all the men be marched into the circle of women and forced to commit acts of felatio and Sodomy on each other? No. It's quietly brushed under the carpet and the women are said to have 'been shown video's educating them in the ways of male sexuality'.
I'm sorry but that's a cop out. I know the publisher probably would have baulked if she'd written a scene where all the guys wanked each other off, but you know.... what's sauce for the goose, etc, etc...
But aside from that I can't really think of too much to criticise. Of course it's all rather far fetched, and everyone has piercing eyes and toned physiques (yawn) but that aside it's an extremely enjoyable read. I will probably keep it too, it's a lot better than that other one I reviewed a while back (Lust Call) and certainly could be read again I think...

BOOK REVIEW: The Hardness Factor by Dr Steven Lamm

Hands up all you guys who would like your cock to be a little bit harder, a little bit more dependable, a little bit more like you imagine it should be. Okay you can all put your hands down now...
I saw this book when I was looking around Eden Fantasys website the other month and so when I got my email from Kayla about my next item for review I picked this. Now to be 100% honest I haven't finished reading it yet, but I've read enough to realise that this guy knows what he's talking about and I will certainly be trying out some of the stuff in this book, particularly the exercises that are recommended for core stability and strength.
The book promotes a six week programme for improving the quality of your erection and so I will revisit this in a month and a half and tell you what has occurred. In the meantime if you fancy it, this book looks like a good investment. Plus, and I've personally thought this for a long time, Dr Lamm's message seems to be, never mind warning people against the dangers of bad eating, smoking, drinking by telling them 'you'll have a heart attack when you're 50!', instead he prefers the much more alarming warning that your erection quality will suffer.
I think that wouldn't be a bad thing to teach in upper schools. Look after your body and you'll keep a good, hard cock! I probably wouldn't have been so fat in my late teens if they'd told me that. I've been fat and thin and fat again and I know my cock isn't as dependable or hard as it was, but I'm getting there, slowly...
Anyway, back to the book... Dr Lamm talks about all sorts of stuff throughout the book, such as the use of drugs like Viagra, and the possible final options for those who have let things get too bad. There's also advice on how to promote higher testosterone levels, to assist in in making your erection harder and also which supplements you might want to take to assist your body in putting the lead in your pencil.
As I said I haven't read the whole book, but I fully intend to and I will certainly be trying out the exercises, although I probably won't be trying out the suggested menus... my cock would have to be hopelessly soft for me to want to eat shellfish, yeuch!
So if you do have some concerns in this area (and let's be honest, an awful lot of us do at one time or another) then I reckon this is a good place to start addressing the problem. You can of course pick it up from Eden Fantasys website, which features a good range of erotic books and of course a huge range of sex toys.

BOOK REVIEW: Ron Jeremy - The Hardest (Working) Man in Showbusiness...

I've just started reading this book for the second time, and it is just as entertaining as the first time. Ron Jeremy has had a crazy life and I for one never knew he was a trained actor! This book is seriously funny, and a little sad at times, but Ron sounds like such a laugh you can't help but like him. I bought this and Jenna Jameson's book about the same time. Jenna's book was a depressing experience, and far, far, far too long. This one I can imagine reading over and over again.

BOOK REVIEW: Safe Word by Molly Weatherfield...

I'm not going to go into massive detail about this but I've just finished this book, which is a sequel to 'Carrie's Story' (which was reviewed previously). I was a bit suspect about whether to bother with the follow up or not, but I decided to in the end and actually I'm quite glad I did, because I thought it was a fair bit better than the first one. It's still a bit pretentious in places, of course... but it's that kind of book, and it doesn't detract from the story, which has a rather surprising ending.
Of course, ponygirls aren't my thing, but this is well written and to be honest this works whether you are into that particular fetish or not. Overall, rather good.

BOOK REVIEW: Carrie's Story by Molly Weatherfield

It’s that time again, our friends at Eden Fantasys have furnished me with one of their erotic books to review this month, albeit one that’s been around a while so some of you might have already read it.
I must confess this book wasn’t my first choice, there was a very interesting looking book on their website which was about something close to all men’s hearts, making and keeping your cock hard. But it was out of stock, so I couldn’t have that. Maybe next time, Kayla?
So I chose this one instead…

It actually came out in 1995 (I like to ride the cutting edge!), and is apparently something of a classic, albeit one that I’ve never heard of before.
The story centres around a girl called Carrie, a young despatch rider who falls into a relationship with an older man who takes her as his slave. At first she visits him twice a week to be used and abused as he sees fit, which is quite entertaining, but as their relationship continues it becomes much more serious to the point where Carrie is prepared for sale at a slave auction.
Now, you know me, I’m a stickler for believability and I bristled at the bit where ‘a button was pressed and a chain descended from the ceiling’, so if that sort of thing is going to bother you I would steer well clear because, in the second half of the book particularly, believability goes out of the window somewhat (almost to the point of being sci-fi).
There’s three stages to the book really, the initial relationship, the training and the preparation for sale. But the book feels like it’s missing a fourth part, it ends abruptly and at 188 pages seems quite short, almost like it’s part of a longer book. I found the first two parts the most enjoyable, even though I don’t really ‘get’ the whole pony training thing. But for me the third part descends into oddness. In this part the sex becomes irrelevant and perfunctory, as does it’s description. Carrie is seemingly ‘buggered’ by everyone she meets (without so much as a hint of lube) and the story starts to focus in on her dehumanisation and detachedness.
I can see why the sex is written this way in this part of the book, as it’s making the point that she’s becoming an object to be used, but it doesn’t make for particularly ‘sexy’ reading. I can’t really imagine anyone with their hands in their pants in the last third of the book, save for those who are deeply into this sort of thing.
That aside, the writing itself is of a very high standard and I did enjoy reading this book, or at least most of it. If this has tickled your fancy you can buy this and a wide range of erotic books and sex toys at Eden Fantasys website. One thing I can say about them, their delivery is lightning fast, which is always a good thing for those impatiently waiting to get their goodies!

Kayla from Eden Fantasys has advised me that the reason the book seems to end so abruptly is that there is a sequel, which can be found here
